The 4th of July Flight!

In celebration of Independence Day, this weekend we will be featuring red, white, and blue tea:
Chinese Silver Needle, Organic Rooibos, and French Superblue Lavender!

Chinese Silver Needle is an original white tea with large buds. This tea's flavor is more vegetal in comparison to other white teas.

The South African tea Rooibos, meaning "Red Bush," has a naturally sweet flavor and healthy properties. Non-caffeinated, this herbal tea is found in our blends such as African Autumn and Herbal Hot Cinnamon.

Lavender lovers can't get enough of our French Superblue Lavender. With intensity in both its flavor and its color, the floral notes and deep purple tones of this tea not only are enjoyable but also calming.

THIS MONDAY, JULY 4TH, WE WILL BE CLOSED IN OBSERVANCE OF INDEPENDANCE DAY.

Flight of Teas! June 25th and 26th! Refreshing Iced Teas

(*all teas will be served iced.)

Fight the humidity this weekend with another variation of iced teas!

Citron green is often recommended to those interested in entering the world of green tea. While some are interested in the benefits that green tea has, the grassy, vegetal flavor is not the easiest to develop a palette for. Citron green's delectable orange flavor sets the bar for a refreshing tea both hot and iced - whether it's your first green tea or your 100th.

Our Soba tea is a roasted buckwheat and is caffeine free. One of Mrs. Harney's favorites, the flavor is lightly sweet and toasty. Roasted buckwheat may not sound as the most common iced beverage, but its unique flavor create a smooth and tasty drink.

Midsummer's Peach is a decaffeinated Chinese black tea blended with juicy peach flavor. One of summer's favorite fruit, Midsummer's Peach is a very popular iced tea. Garnish with lemon or enjoy just the way it is, this iced black tea will quench your thirst and set the perfect tone for a summer afternoon.

Flight of Teas! June 18th and 19th; 2011 Crop Chinese Greens!

Spring is almost over, but that means that 2011 crop teas are starting to arrive!  This weekend we're happy to present three delicious teas from Zhejiang province in China: Jin Shan, Anji Baicha &  Meijiawu Lung Ching.

Jin Shan's bushes thrive in the cool mountains that separate Zhejiang from Anhui province.  This tea has some unique sweet qualities, notes of honey & orange blossoms.  This year's crop is deliciously ethereal.  Come for a taste while it's at its freshest!

Anji Baicha is a recent addition to the tea world, within the last two decades.  It's a leaf and bud tea, almost needle like.  Mike & Emeric were instantly drawn to this tea for its strong vegetal aromas and ephemeral sweetness.  Truly a delight for your tastebuds.

Miejiawu Lung Ching is from just outside of West Lake.   The original 7 tea plants are said to have originated in this township.  Fired and pressed initially by machine (for about 15 minutes) Meijiawu is finished by hand.  This yields in a clean cup of tea, reminiscent of toasted leeks with a nutty aftertaste.

Throughout the weekend, Emeric will be preparing these gong fu method alongside the regular flight.  Mike Harney will also be here on Saturday, so be sure to stop by and say, "Hi!"

Holly Arnold with a Tasting of Eight at the Fort

Holly Arnold will be at the shop on Tuesday June 21st from from 4pm to 6 pm.

Holly's restaurant was the inspiration for our popular black tea blend Eight at the Fort. In 1996, the G8 Summit was held in Denver, Colorado. A reception for the meeting was held at the Fort Restaurant high above Denver, and we're proud to say that we were commissioned to create a tea for that event, and so Eight at the Fort blend was created, and served during the reception. A truly unique blend of 8 teas, Eight at the Fort has been a mainstay of the Harney line-up ever since its creation.

John and Michael Harney will also be on hand at our Soho location on June 21st, offering tastings of Eight at the Fort, and enjoying and sharing fresh baked scones.

Flight of Teas! June 11th and 12th; Flavorful Iced Teas!

(*all teas will be served iced.)

Summer is here and we are feeling the heat! Why not cool down with some freshly brewed, unique iced teas?
With the spring floral oolong Ti Quan Yin as its base tea, Pomegranate Oolong is an excellent choice for a summer iced beverage. The full leaves of Ti Quan Yin infused with the juicy pomegranate create a fascinating blend hot or cold. Switch up your favorite barbecue beverage this summer to something a little more tangy and unique!

Paris, a black tea base with vanilla, caramel, black currant and a touch of lemony Bergamot, is one of our top selling teas. Reminiscent of one of the most popular blends in Paris, Mike created this tea in homage to the many shops he enjoyed a pot of tea at throughout the beautiful city.  Tres delicieux!

Organic Rooibos is an herbal reigning from South Africa. Translating to "red-bush," it contains no caffeine but is packed with antioxidants. Naturally sweet tasting, Rooibos over ice is a great way to watch the sun set on the perfect summer day. Garnish with lemon and break away from the traditional iced tea.

June 4th & 5th: Tippy Teas!

This weekend we wanted to share with you a variety of tippy teas!  Natural sweetness (glucose) comes from the tips or buds in tea.  Stop by for a taste of these smooth, tasty brews!

Ceylon Silver Tips is a white tea that only has buds.  The cup is light and sweet, characterized by green grapes, apples with a hint of jasmine at the finish.

Java Golden Blend is a new tea for Harney and Sons. This Indonesian tea has beautiful small leaves with lots of golden tips. The brew is round, malty and sweet.

Assam Golden Tips is a delicious Assam, rare to come by.  Without the addition of leaves this tea doesn't have the darker, roasted notes typically found in it's family.  Instead there's a buttery caramel, slightly malty flavor, accented by hints of delightfully sweet mangos and papaya.
